Privacy Policy
Cuku.me helps you meet people nearby: turn on the radar, wave, chat and share photos. This page explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it and what your rights are. The app is for people aged 18 and over.
1. What we collect
- Email address: to sign you in with a one-time code sent by email. Other users never see it.
- Precise location: only while your radar is on. Your phone sends its GPS position to our server; the server moves that point 50–150 m in a random direction before storing it, and stores only the moved point, for as long as the radar is on (2–4 hours) plus up to 24 hours to detect faked locations. Your real coordinates are never stored. Other people only see an approximate distance (never closer than 200 m) and never any coordinates.
- Photos: profile and post photos are taken live with the camera (never picked from your library). The server re-encodes every photo and strips all metadata (EXIF, GPS).
- Content you create: waves, chat messages, posts, reactions, gifts.
- Profile: display name, username (@handle), birth year, gender, language, interests, country.
- In-app activity: Pi points, tier, missions, followers, blocked users, settings.
2. How we use it
- To sign you in and run the app: radar, chat, profile wall, feed, notifications.
- To keep the community safe: handle reports, stop spam and abuse, suspend accounts that break the rules.
- To understand how the app is used so we can improve it, using our own data only.
No ads, no tracking. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, does not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
3. Who sees your data
- Other users see your public profile, radar status, approximate distance and the content you choose to share, according to your privacy settings (for example "Show me on Radar" and who can see a post).
- Infrastructure providers process data on our behalf and only for that purpose: server hosting, content delivery and email delivery.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
4. Retention
- Content that is hidden or removed (posts you hide from your wall or delete, messages you unsend, posts held after reports) stays stored on the server but is not shown to others. Messages from closed chats may be kept on the server to handle reports or legal requests, and are only looked at for those purposes.
- Reports are kept even if the reported person deletes their account, together with their name, @handle and a hash of their email at the time of the report, so deleting an account does not erase a record of abuse.
5. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app: Settings → Delete account. It is hidden from everyone at once. For 30 days after deletion you can restore it by signing in again with the same email. After 30 days your identifying information (email, name, @handle, photos, profile) is deleted or anonymised; anonymised activity data may be kept for statistics. Reports are kept as described in 4.
6. Reports and moderation
You can report or block anyone and report any post. Posts reported by several people are held for review. The Cuku.me team reviews reports and may hide content or suspend accounts that break the rules.
7. Your rights
You can view and edit your data in the app, ask us to delete it, withdraw location or camera permission in your phone's settings at any time, and ask us how your data is processed, under Vietnam's Decree 13/2023/ND-CP and other applicable data protection laws (such as the GDPR).
